Leeds Shotokan Karate Club and York Elite Fun Day 2013

After the success of last year's event, LSKC and York Elite have got together again to hold an inter club competition and family fun day on Sunday 14th July at Roundhegians Karate Club in Leeds. The competition is particularly aimed at our younger members and junior grades and we encourage as many members as can come to take part. 

LSKC and York Elite have always had close ties and we both benefitted greatly from the instruction of the late great Sensei Randy Williams, 7th Dan KUGB. Special Club Training and Grading Event on Sunday 09th June 2013

We had a fantastic days training and grading on Sunday 09th June with Sensei Frank Brennan 7th Dan KUGB. Full details are in Latest News.

Dan Grading at Kendal 26th May 2013

Congratulations to our newest black belts Alick Doyle and Cei Reynolds who passed 1st Dan with Sensei Sherry and Sensei Brennan in Kendal. Oss.

4th Sunderland Karate Championships

The Sunderland Karate Championships are being held on Sunday 23rd June this year. Details of categories are available HERE. Any members wishing to compete need to register at the dojo no later than 16th June 2013.

KUGB National Championships - Saturday 04th May 2013

 The KUGB National Championships were held on Saturday 04th May at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena. York Elite sent a young team of warriors to compete and although it was a day of mixed fortune (and some puzzling decisions!) we're really proud of everyone who competed in kata and kumite.

Special mention must go to Fraser Grice who continued on from his success at last year's European's with a silver medal in the individual kumite and to Joseph Lines for his bronze medal in kumite. Also we entered three team katas and although they didn't have a lot of preparation time they each did really well; with continued training we're certain to be in the medals in the future.

York Elite's competitors included: Fraser Grice, Sammi King, Rosa Kerr, Cayleigh McCartney, Julia Coatesworth, Joseph Lines, Oliver Lines, Connor Dunckley, Owen Dunckley, Anthony Coatesworth, Carly Pringle, Cameron Pringle, Sam Blundell, Cei Reynolds, Kade Reynolds, Harvey Hunter, Mackenzie Hunter and (representing the veterans!) Niall McCreanor.

Thanks to all of the mums and dads who travelled to Birmingham for the day and for your incredible support. Oss.

Adult Fitness and Conditioning Class - Get in shape for the Summer...........

The Adult Fitness and Conditioning classes are now established on Thursday evenings at 7pm. The classes are run by Rob and Ian and are a mix of different exercises and stretching routines designed to blow out the cobwebs and get you shipshape for the summer. All ages and levels of fitness catered for and the class is especially aimed at our members' parents who deserve a bit of "me" time.......

 2013 England Junior Squad

We are delighted that once again York Elite karateka Fraser Grice and Sammi King, have all been selected for the 2013 England Junior Kumite Squad. This is a very special year for the squad with the 2013 WSKA World Championships being held at the Liverpool Echo Arena on 28-29th September. More details HERE.

We are confident Fraser and Sammi will have a successful year in competition and training leading to selection for the England Team at the World Championships and look forward to cheering them every step of the way. Oss!
